Sáenz de Santamaría Rondan Rioja Tinto Crianza 2019
Sáenz de Santamaría Rondan Rioja Tinto Crianza
Rondan Rioja Tinto Crianza is a traditional blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha. It shows a complex aromatic profile, spacing from ripe wild berries to toasted almonds. On the palate, Rondan Crianza is round and smooth, with fine tannins. The wine spends 12 months in Spanish and American oak barrels, and this leaves Rondan Crianza suave and spicy, yet with all the depth and warmth you would expect from a proper Rioja!
Founded in 1993, this winery is in Cenicero, along with its vineyards – one of the best places to make traditional Rioja wines. The Sáenz de Santamaría own 60 hectares of vineyards here, where they grow Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha red grapes, as well as Viura white grapes. Their wines are named after their most special vineyard, Rondan.
The quality of their wines has been demonstrated in recent years with numerous national and international awards.
The entrance gate to the winery can be seen as the symbolic image on the labels of their bottles.
