Chateau de Vaudieu Chateauneuf du Pape
Tasting Note
Chateau de Vaudieu Chateauneuf du Pape is a deep ruby red in colour, with a black cherry core. Chateau de Vaudieu Chateauneuf du Pape has lively berry fruits on the nose, with a touch of liquorice and a hint of black pepper. This wine is full of fruit, juicy and round with ripe tannins that gently support the cherry, cassis and herb character on the finish.

The name Vaudieu originated from ‘Vallée de Dieu’ (Valley of God), a reference to the beauty of the area. The Château is a splendid 18th Century property, once owned by the négociant Gabriel Meffre, and now run by his grandson, Laurent Bréchet.
Over the past seven years, Laurent has transformed the estate through substantial investment and an obsession with quality. The family is established in Vaucluse, and grows vines in the Southern Rhône since five generations. At the beginning of the XXth century, our great grand-father Auguste, who was honoured with a gold medal at the general agricultural competition in Paris in 1900... grew a nearly 10 Ha vineyard and several olive trees on the foothills of the delicious village of Gigondas, once called Jocunditas, which means "Joy and Glee".
His daughter, Juliette, got married with Gabriel Meffre. They started to discover the virgin lands around, cutting trees to plant vines; this is the signification of our current logo, decorating our bottles: an olive tree with grapes. Gabriel and Juliette Meffre, as true visionaries, developed thanks to their huge work all their estates to become one of the major actors of the Southern Rhône, on the prestigious appellations as Châteauneuf du pape and Gigondas, and moreover on the Côtes du Rhône and Provence. In 1987, their daughter Sylvette Brechet started to manage those estates, quickly joined by his son Laurent in 1990, and later by Julien in 2006. Today, each estate is led by a Brechet, to set up diary work, and to provide a necessary presence.
