Sáenz de Santamaría Señorío de Rondan Rioja Gran Reserva
Bodegas Sáenz de Santamaría takes great care and selects only the most exceptional vintages in releasing their own Gran Reserva. Señorío de Rondan Rioja Gran Reserva is a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha and 10% Mazuelo. It shows great structure, plenty of aromas, elegance, and a great balance. Intense flavours of ripe blackberry and blueberry are mixed with the typical notes given by long oak aging like vanilla, leather and sweet tobacco. The Señorío de Rondan Rioja Gran Reserva spends 24 months in French oak barrels, plus another 36 months in the bottle, before it can be officially released on the market.
Producer
Founded in 1993, this winery is in Cenicero, along with its vineyards – one of the best places to make traditional Rioja wines. The Sáenz de Santamaría own 60 hectares of vineyards here, where they grow Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha red grapes, as well as Viura white grapes. Their wines are named after their most special vineyard, Rondan.
The quality of their wines has been demonstrated in recent years with numerous national and international awards.
The entrance gate to the winery can be seen as the symbolic image on the labels of their bottles.
