Sáenz de Santamaría Rondan Rioja Reserva
Rondan Rioja Reserva is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo, and it is only made in particuarly good years. It shows an intense aromatic profile on the nose; while, on the palate, this wine is mainly focused on the warm and juicy flavours that made Rioja one of the most renowned wine regions of the world. The Rondan Rioja Reserva spends 24 months in American and French oak barrels, plus another 24 months in the bottle, before it can be officially released on the market.
Producer
Founded in 1993, this winery is in Cenicero, along with its vineyards – one of the best places to make traditional Rioja wines. The Sáenz de Santamaría own 60 hectares of vineyards here, where they grow Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha red grapes, as well as Viura white grapes. Their wines are named after their most special vineyard, Rondan.
The quality of their wines has been demonstrated in recent years with numerous national and international awards.
The entrance gate to the winery can be seen as the symbolic image on the labels of their bottles.
