Somewhat of a steal - we have managed to secure some bottles of the 1981 vintage of this prestigious Coteaux du Layon. Appearance: Deep amber or old gold color showing decades of careful maturation. Aroma: Rich and complex notes of honey, acacia flower, ripe peach, and dried apricot. Palate: Luxuriously sweet yet supported by classic Chenin Blanc acidity, balancing unctuous texture with lingering notes of candied fruit and honeycombe

Tasting Note

Somewhat of a steal - we have managed to secure some bottles of the 1981 vintage of this prestigious Coteaux du Layon.

Appearance: Deep amber or old gold color showing decades of careful maturation.

Producer

Organic wine estate of 18 hectares in ANJOU at the gates of Angers on a schist-sandstone terroir (Anjou Noir).

The grape varieties are CHENIN (sweet Coteaux du Layon and dry white Anjou), CABERNET FRANC and CABERNET SAUVIGNON (fruity Anjou Village with structure in red and Cabernet d'Anjou in sweet rosé) as well as GROLLEAU NOIR and GRIS (dry Rosé de Loire). A plot of the old indigenous grape variety PINEAU D'AUNIS light and spicy is vinified in red or rosé depending on the year (call for Pineau d'Aunis, reference not present on the website).

The Domaine has a collection of old Layons (1981 to 98) in 75cl bottles, half-bottles and magnums for lovers of the genre as well as Crémant de Loire for the bubbles.

The wines officially in AB start with the 2025 vintage.
