Domaine Pelle Menetou Salon Morogues
Domaine Pelle Menetou Salon Morogues has a subtle, pure nose with aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits.
Domaine Pelle Menetou Salon Morogues taste is racy and crystalline, clear with a citrus fruit taste initially followed by a saline and mineral finish. Nothing overly exuberant: just clarity and precision.
Domaine Pelle Menetou Salon Morogues : The organic domaine of Henry Pelle consists of 40 hectares covering the 2 appellations of Sancerre and Menetou-Salon.
Widely regarded as the best producer in the Menetou-Salon AOC, only Sauvignon Blanc (2/3) and Pinot Noir grapes (1/3) are grown on Kimmeridgean clay and limestone marl.
The cellars are situated in the beautiful village of Morogues in the eastern region of the Loire Valley and the business is run by Anne Pelle, wife of the late Eric Pelle, assisted by oenologist Julien Zernott.
Our Domaine takes its roots in Morogues, a village at the far eastern end of the Loire Valley. Our cellars are close to the village centre, nestling below our beautiful “Les Cris” red grape vineyard.
In each of our vineyard plots in the neighbouring Menetou-salon and Sancerre appellations, we observe Mother Nature, cherishing and working with her so that she gives us her very best in return.
In this part of the world, we think, make and drink wine; sharing ideas, a glass of wine or two, and the taste of our land, with our friends and customers. http://www.henry-pelle.com/vigneron-sancerre-presentation_p_9_lang_uk.html
These lines are written by the current generation but they apply to Domaine Pellé from its very beginning.
Over time, the world has accelerated but nature has stayed faithful, determining the work of the winemaker, year after year, with each new season.
With the same devotion to his craft, the winemaker still slips through the cellar door late at night to check on the wines, only now he is wearing sneakers not clogs!
