Fitapreta Touriga Vai Nua

The 2021 has the same sensational perfume we have so enjoyed and revelled in over the last few vintages. Perfectly ripe fresh cherries, floral tones of cherry blossom, peonies and rose petal, bergamot and a palate that has that lifted, liquid silk-like feel and such energy.

Each sip is utter joy. FYI - A Touriga Vai Nua means "Touriga goes naked" - it's unoaked, and glorious for it!

Producer

There can be few more bold and enterprising wine industry personalities in the world than Antonio Maçanita. This former international gymnast and rugby player is now making groundbreaking wines across Portugal, from the Douro, to Alentejo to the Azores.

If you've watched the recent third series of The Wine Show (available on Amazon Prime), you'll have caught Antonio talking of his winemaking projects on the wild and windswept Azores. For us, his wines from his homeland, the Alentejo, are the very best of them all.

“The aroma is glorious: sweet mulberry and blackberry but deeply floral too with that lovely note of bergamot and even a touch of peony that I rarely see on Touriga. It's even more aromatic the day after opening. The aroma is so lovely, I hesitate to put the wine in my mouth because I want to make the aromatic pleasure last. A class act with a long, dark-fruited finish.”
