Fonseca Guimaraens Port 2012
Producer
Fonseca traces its origins to 1815. Fonseca Guimaraens was then founded in 1822 when Manuel Pedro Guimaraens acquired the majority share of the Fonseca & Monteiro company holdings. Not long after this purchase, Guimaraens, a supporter of the liberal cause in the 'War of the Two Brothers' was forced to flee Portugal hidden in an empty port wine cask.
He settled in England, where his company remained based until 1927, when the headquarters of the firm returned to Portugal. Throughout the generations, the Fonseca secret has been passed on to the next family member, who imparts richness and structure of both dimension and finesse across the range.
The current custodian is David Guimaraens, who with his flawless winemaking and viticultural track record expresses the very best of each vintage.
