Producer

In the heart of the enchanting landscape of Gavi DOCG, not far from Novi Ligure (AL), at an altitude of 180-200 meters above sea level and with a southeast exposure, “Gavalussa” is born, a private label adopted by Marc De Grazia Selections to express the excellence of Cortese di Gavi. This variety of white grape represents one of the peaks of native Piedmontese winemaking.

“Gavalussa” is an authentic enological masterpiece that embodies the spirit of Gavi, celebrating the harmony between man and land, from vineyard to bottle.

The vineyards that give life to this Gavi are come from a selection of Cortese grapes from the municipalities of Francavilla, Novi, and Tassarolo. Here, the clayey and limestone soils provide an ideal habitat for the Cortese grape, enriching it with minerality, tension, and complexity. After being hand-harvested in the second half of September, the grapes undergo a soft, whole-cluster pressing. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, preserving the grape's freshness and distinctive aromas. The wine ages in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for at least three months on the fine lees, imparting greater richness and structure. Tasting "Gavalussa" reveals a wide array of aromas and flavors: delicate floral notes blend with hints of fresh fruit on the nose, while on the palate it stands out for its elegance and freshness, with a pleasant minerality that lends the sip a unique and refined character. The finish is clean and remarkably persistent, leaving the palate refreshed by the rhythm of this high-quality Cortese.
