Tasting Note

Aging in 225-liter French oak barriques allows the wine to develop a velvety tannic texture and a complex aromatic richness, intertwining fruit, spices, and an intense tannic structure. Clos Roareti represents the meeting point between the distinctive character of Valpolicella’s terroir and an internationally renowned grape variety, embodying Guerrieri Rizzardi’s philosophy: enhancing each variety’s best characteristics.

Producer

The first vintage produced of Clos Roareti was 2006.

The grapes come from our vineyards in Negrar di Valpolicella. Merlot has been planted since the late 90s, a grape variety that adapts perfectly to the climate and clayey soil.

The resulting wine is rich, full and complex characteristic of Merlot, on the nose and on the palate you can perceive the notes of wood and it differs from the lighter style of Venetian Merlots.

Aging potential: up to 10 years

The identity of Clos Roareti is encapsulated in its name. This IGT Rosso Veronese derives its name from the vineyard “Rovereti,” from which the dialect term “Roareti” originates. The French term “Clos” refers to a walled vineyard, historically used to protect and isolate plots with unique characteristics.

The combination of a local name with an international term reflects the vision of Giuseppe Rizzardi, the estate’s owner and a key figure in production. After completing his oenology studies in France, Giuseppe introduced new techniques and knowledge acquired abroad, creating a wine that merges deep local roots with a contemporary approach: a 100% Merlot that speaks the language of Valpolicella.
