La Piotta Croatina

La Piotta Croatina is ruby red in colour with nuances of plum, it has an intense aroma with hints of red currants, blackcurrants and pleasing spicy notes. On the palate it is full-bodied and rounded with pleasing tannins.

It combines well with numerous dishes: in particular charcuteries, meat-based pasta dishes like agnolotti, braised and roast meats and game.

The harvest takes place after careful selection of the grapes. Following crush-destemming, the must is fermented on the skins in temperature-controlled vats for 10-12 days, with repeated pumping over. Following the alcoholic fermentation the wine is racked.

The company was founded in 1985 by a family devoted to the world of wine for generations.

The average age of the vines currently present is about 30 years, which allows the production of white wines with intense and persistent aromas and full-bodied, well-structured red wines.

As a witness to the love for traditions and territory, nine rows of Pinot Grigio planted in 1930 still exist and produce.

Over the years it grew to become a farm land of 15 hectares completely planted vineyards.

The annual production is about 70,000 bottles and the entire production cycle, from the vine to the bottle, takes place in the company and is personally taken care of by the Padroggi family.

The Padroggi family has , for generations, been dedicated to the cultivation of the vine and wine production.

The company founder, Luigi, and his sons Gabriel and Mario have dedicated their lives to the founding and expansion of the company.

Recently the third generation of winemakers joined the company: the young Enrico and Luca joined their fathers in the technical, productive and commercial parts.

Their intention is to continue the process begun by their grandfather, bringing new ideas to the company from the point of view of the image and production.

In 2013 La Piotta became part of the Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti (FIVI – Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers) that has the aim of representing and safeguarding the figure of the winemaker in relation to the institutions by promoting the quality and authenticity of Italian wines.
