Neri Etna Rosso
Tasting Note
Made from hand-picked Nerello Mascalese grapes, this wine originates from the complex and unique terroir on the north eastern slope of Mount Etna, where discreet acidity and a delicate structure combine to produce unique and peculiar wines.
Red cherries, burnt sage, black pepper, and volcanic ash, layered with sweet spices and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is balanced and pleasantly persistent and pairs perfectly with meat or cooked vegetable appetizers, vegetable-based first courses, pasta dishes with ragù, and grilled white or red meats.
Producer
When Vincenzo Neri decided to return to Linguaglossa ( Sicily) from the U.S. where he had emigrated over a century ago, he had no doubts: his future would be closely tied to Mount Etna. With the fortune made overseas, he decided to invest by purchasing farmland. Today, the estate extends over 8 hectares of vineyards plus olive groves. This land is divided between contrada Arrigo and Borrigliona, at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, on a beautifully complex terroir, thanks to its volcanic soil with important mineral components.
The Neri family, now in its fourth generation, has remained faithful to their great-grandfather’s vision, passing down from generation to generation their love for these black and fertile volcanic lands, as well as the respect for sustainable cultivation methods. Today the company is managed by his grandchildren Salvo and Fabio who, with the approval of their parents Santo and Nina, have further developed the family activity.
