Pratello Lugana Catulliano

Pratello Lugana Catulliano is open and expressive on the nose, with notes of citrus, apple and herbs. The palate is round and apricotty, yet with a mineral tautness that provides a very elegant finish.

The nose shows floral and fruity hints, medium bodied whose smoothness is shows clean sensations of juniper berries and then Golden Delicious apple and finishes beautifully with William pear.

In the mouth this wine is very soft, having perfect balance, where the bitter, sour, sweet and salty flavours combine to create a great overall mouthfeel. The predominate flavours are of peach, apple and white rose petals and a long elegant finish.

The Pratello estate occupies a favourable spot on a hillside overlooking Lake Garda. The owners, the Bertola family, have planted the most suitable sixty-six of the 140 hectares with vines; the rest of the land is given over to forest and cereal crops.

The vineyards have been cultivated organically since 2004, on mineral-rich clay soils. The loose soil structure provides excellent drainage, while the lakeside exposition encourages airflow that helps keep the grapes healthy.

Following a cold maceration, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks over ten days. It was then racked and aged in tank for three months before bottling.

Vincenzo Bertola loves to talk about his company and his wines. He is driven by an ambition, to make Pratello a house which are able to offer a little sip of Garda in every bottle, but also to displace the platitudes and clichés focusing on rather unusual varieties and complex wines, which often aim to go beyond the identity of the area, but see them as an alternative to the more traditional types. To organize the new vineyard, Vincenzo Bertola has given high priority to agricultural management.
