More Information

Tenute Sirinada Cannonau di Sardegna

Tenute Sirinada Cannonau di Sardegna 2022 is a characterful Italian red wine made from 100% Cannonau, Sardinia’s most important native red grape variety. Generous, warm and gently spiced, it combines ripe Mediterranean fruit with moderate tannins and a savoury, traditional finish.

This approachable Cannonau di Sardegna offers an authentic introduction to Sardinian red wine, with enough richness to accompany hearty food while remaining balanced and easy to enjoy.

A Warm and Generous Sardinian Red Wine

Ruby red in colour, the wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe plums, blackberries and dried dark fruit. Floral notes add lift, while subtle hints of spice bring extra depth and complexity.

The palate is dry and rounded, with generous fruit, gentle tannins and a warm Mediterranean character. Ripe plum and blackberry flavours are supported by savoury spice, leading towards a persistent finish with a pleasantly bitter note typical of the variety.

It is a medium to full-bodied red with a rustic edge, but its fruit-driven style makes it immediately accessible.

Winemaking

The Cannonau grapes are destemmed and gently crushed before undergoing a ten-day maceration at a controlled temperature of between 24°C and 26°C.

Regular pump-overs take place during fermentation to extract colour, flavour and tannin from the grape skins. The wine is then matured in stainless-steel tanks, preserving the purity of its ripe fruit and the distinctive character of the Cannonau grape without the influence of oak.

About Menicucci Vini d’Italia

Menicucci Vini d’Italia is a family-run Italian producer whose story began in 1970, when Antonio Menicucci planted his first vines in Ortona, Abruzzo.

Today, the business is led by the second and third generations of the Menicucci family. Luigi and Emmanuele Menicucci continue to combine the family’s winemaking traditions with modern techniques and a commitment to consistent quality.

Alongside its roots in Abruzzo, Menicucci produces wines inspired by several of Italy’s most distinctive regions and native grape varieties. The Tenute Sirinada range focuses on Sardinia, creating approachable wines that reflect the island’s warm climate, Mediterranean landscape and strong regional identity.

About Cannonau di Sardegna

Cannonau is Sardinia’s local expression of the grape variety internationally known as Grenache or Garnacha. It has been cultivated on the island for centuries and has become closely associated with Sardinian wine culture.

Sardinia’s abundant sunshine and warm, dry climate allow Cannonau to develop ripe fruit, spice and natural warmth. The island’s maritime influences and varied landscapes can also help preserve freshness, giving the wines balance alongside their generous fruit.

Cannonau di Sardegna is typically known for flavours of ripe red and black fruit, dried herbs, warm spices and occasional floral notes. Styles can range from fresh and medium-bodied to richer, more structured wines.

Food Pairing

Tenute Sirinada Cannonau di Sardegna is a natural partner for roasted and grilled meats. Try it with roast lamb, beef, pork, venison or slow-cooked meat dishes.

It also pairs well with rustic pasta dishes, tomato-based sauces, charcuterie and mature cheeses. Its combination of ripe fruit, gentle tannins and savoury spice makes it particularly suitable for Mediterranean cooking and traditional Sardinian-inspired dishes.

Serving Recommendation

Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Opening the bottle around 20 to 30 minutes before serving will allow its ripe fruit and spicy aromas to become more expressive.
