Vina Cobos Felino Malbec
Vina Cobos Felino Malbec is deep, opaque royal purple, leaning to indigo hues. Very expressive on the nose, displaying gorgeous notes of violet flowers and shortbread. On the palate, it carries vibrant flavours of blueberry, boysenberry, jam and a precise note of black cherry pie, with chewy, ripe tannins. The fresh finish of the Vina Cobos Felino Malbec introduces pleasant spice tones that harmonize with the fruit.
Californian trail-blazer Paul Hobbs visited Argentina in 1989 and fell in love with its terroir and culture. Viña Cobos is the result of a shared dream between Paul and his winemaking partners - Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud.
Founded in 1997, Viña Cobos utilises old vines, careful vineyard selection, low yields and an unerring empathy for raw materials. The result is a range of expressive, balanced, world-class wines with a true sense of place.
The inaugural 1999 vintage received the highest score to date for an Argentinean wine upon release. Subsequent releases earned 98 points from Wine Advocate magazine.
The wines continue to earn outstanding plaudits from the world press. Viña Cobos has an extensive team of grape growers located in different outstanding winemaking regions in Mendoza. They work closely together and are committed to quality and a respect for the terroir.
From vineyard sites in Luján de Cuyo, Maipu and Valle de Uco at altitudes of 2300 to 3835 feet above sea level. The diurnal temperature variations, long growing season and altitude give a tremendous purity of fruit. These sites are semi desert and irrigation is an essential.
Nowadays, Viña Cobos works with different vineyards placed in the Upper Mendoza River, more specifically in Luján de Cuyo and in some special districts of the Uco Valley.
Those vineyards, highly recognized for their grape quality, give origin to the single vineyard line, the Bramare Vineyard Designation; and the best lots within these vineyards give rise to our icons: Cobos Malbec and Cobos Volturno.
