Lagavulin Distiller’s Edition is double-matured in Pedro Ximenez cask wood, selected for its raisiny sweetness to accentuate and deepen every aspect of the intense, rich character of Lagavulin before being bottled in 2019. This comes across with luscious flavours of dried prunes and dates, cooked fruit, cinnamon spice whilst expertly complimented by toasted almond and oak flavours and a rich smoky aftertaste on the finish.

The intense flavours of the Distiller’s Edition reveal themselves when drunk with just a drop of water.

Producer

Lagavulin was founded by John Johnston in 1816 and it sits on Islay's southern coast, nearby the legendary Ardbeg and Laphroaig distilleries. Today, the distillery is known for producing the world's smokiest whisky, notable for its lapsang souchong-like flavour.

Thanks to this wonderful character, Lagavulin was actually the best-selling Islay single malt until 1998, when Laphroaig took the lead. Details such as the very long distillation and the quality of the sherry casks help turn the smoky giant into a balanced, refined whisky.
