Marius Grenache Syrah IGP Pays D'Oc
The story behind Michel Chapoutier's latest innovation, Marius, is that he remembers his great grandfather as a man with an insatiable thirst for life, and he is also the dapper gentleman who graces the label on Marius wines.
"A good wine is a wine you want to taste again", my great grandfather used to say.
This wine carries his message as well as the warmth of the soil in the South of France where this wine is rooted.
Conviviality, that of a man who likes to share. By mastering the grapes of the Rhone Valley of which secrets I wanted to reveal.
Now, it's my turn to carry a message of pleasure through this wine.
Michel Chapoutier
Marius Red is a wine that combines power, complexity and elegance.
The Syrah endows it with warmth, robustness and a lovely bluish red hue. The Grenache brings a natural sweetness, balancing the whole.
The grape harvest is done during the day: the natural summer heat by the begining of the automn is a great benefit for the wine maturity.
The complexity, the elegance and the gourmet touch of Marius rouge are then revealed by our wine blending know-how.
In order to achieve a balanced and complex vintage, the vineyards we have selected are cultivated on clay and calcareous hillsides. This type of location provides a favourable sun exposure on the hillsides as well as sufficient water reserves in the limestone earth that the vineyards can reach its desired maturity. Furthermore, these vineyards are controlled using the Royat Cordon pruning technique, enabling to grow balanced grapes with a regular maturity. The rootstocks are adapted to the soils.
When you taste it, enjoy in particular:
Its colour: red, purple, dense, clear with deep purple glints.
On the nose: powerful, complex, dark, spicy, red berries, delicate floral touch.
On the palate: powerful, concentrated and structured attack with a tinge of silky tannins. Red fruit aromas.
Marius advises you to serve this wine between 10 and 12°C, during an aperitif or a meal among friends.
