Spagnol Prosecco DOC Frizzante Lo Spago
The nose senses a bouquet of apple and floral notes of acacia and wisteria. The taste is fresh and very typical, with good acidity balanced by tantalizing sapidity or an almost salty minerality. The Spagnol Prosecco DOCG Frizzante Lo Spago is bright straw yellow, and it has the light and soft perlage typical of Frizzante wines.
The Spagnol are a family of winemakers in the heart of the zone famous for the production of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore. Wine producers since the early twentieth century, they began using the sparkling process when making their wine in 1986.
Today, their 32 hectares of vineyards stretch over the hills and slopes of the most prestigious towns in this DOCG territory.
The vineyard dubbed "Col del Sas" located on the hill of the same name in the territory of Valdobbiadene, embodies the family history.
Their brand name reflects this, as it unites the family surname with the name of the their land: Spagnol Col del Sas.
All the lands and vineyards, every vine and every single cluster, are followed closely on their way to the bottles, always subject to the attentive gaze and the industrious hands of father Orazio and mother Loretta and their four sons, brothers Stefano, Marco, Alberto, and Mattia.
The grapes that make up the base of the Spagnol Prosecco DOCG Frizzante Lo Spago are the fruit of the Prosecco vine, today identified with the historic synonym Glera. Glera is a white grape characterised by yellow-golden fruit in long, straggly, and winged clusters.
Its cultivation in this territory, moulded by the Piave River and its lateral branches, makes it possible to obtain spectacular levels of quality thanks to the outstanding variety in the geological composition of the soils.
These ideal terrains are further enhanced by the diverse exposure of the hillsides, the varying altitudes, and the many micro-climates found in this zone, marked by notable temperature changes between the day and night.
All these characteristics are responsible for the organoleptic richness of the Spagnol Prosecco DOCG Frizzante Lo Spago, the notes and bouquets of which vary from hillside to hillside.
